Blog #3

I read the book "Personal effects" and it gets interesting when Matt finds out his brother is dead when he fought in the war in the beginning of the book and it gets way better in the rest of the book because of its drama and action. I have some connections to this book because I watch movies that some guys are in the war and they lose their family and this kinda reminds me of world war 2 because it's a war and Matt lost his brother and a lot of people lost their family in world war II. This book has a lot of interesting parts but some aren't that good because it gets boring sometimes. I would recommend this book to 8th and high schoolers because it's kinda hard to understand sometimes.

The rising action in this book are when Matt finds out his brother dies in the war and he has to be tough and get through his life without him. The plot in this book is when matt try's to figure out what happened and he get's caught when he does figure it out and his dad get's mad at him for not keeping a promise. The conclusion is when Matt learns a lesson and try's to get out of trouble and learns a lesson not to know because now he is in very deep trouble. Matt is my favorite character in this because I have connections to him and he is a lier about trying to get out of trouble just like me.

I Finished reading my book called "Personal Effects" and I think this book was one of the greatest I've read because this book is about a brother who has to be himself knowing that his brother was killed in the war. I wonder how his brother died because it never tells us how he did but I think he probably died by getting shot in battle or dying of natural causes. I also wonder where did he die because the book only says he died on his way to his mission so I wonder if he died in Iraq when the war was happening. One important question I have is when this book happened like what year, what month and what day.

The genre in this book is Realistic Fiction because it has a lot of parts that could happen but some parts can't really happen in real life. I like this book because of the genre because it is creative and it tells a lot of information and it makes me picture whats really going on in the book. Some parts in the book I didn't like because it get's boring and there is not that much action going on in the book. I still think this book is one of the best books I ever read because it's very descriptive and has a lot of imagery.

Blog #5

This is my second time writing about "The Devils Arithmetic" and it got more interesting in the book because it tells the readers more about what people went through during World War 2.  Hannah is the main character and she went through a lot when she got taken by the Nazis with her family. When she gets taken away her and her family meet a lot of new interesting people who want to help them. This book reminds me off when I went to the holocaust museum because I saw a lot of people getting killed by the gas chambers, getting shot but also some made it out of the war and there are still survivors today that actually want to tell what happened to them and that must be hard. I would refer to read this book because it can remind you of the war and and what happened to the people and what they been through.

The conflict in this book is Man vs self because Hannah has to be tough and try to get free and get away from the Nazis with her family and her friends that she met when she got there. Another conflict in this book is Man vs Man because she fights with her friend because she doesn't want to leave a family member behind to die by the Nazis. The book has a lot of conflicts but I think those are the main two because it tells what Hannah is going throughout the book.

The Devils Arithmetic Blog #4

In my Book call " The Devils Arithmetic"  by Jane Yolen there is this girl named Hannah. She is a Jewish girl and she lives in a Polish town. She lives in that town with her relatives and the year in this book is 1942. Suddenly the Nazis take over the whole town and take away all the people who are there. She doesn't know why she is there and doesn't want to be there with her relatives because all they do is talk about the past.

Some tough questions I have about this book is this all a dream or is all this happening? because it seems the events are real and this would happen in the 1940's because the Nazis didn't like any jews and wanted to get rid of them all. I haven't finished reading the book but I really want to know what happens later in the book and if this is really just a dream or it is real.

Holocaust Blog

I think people wanted to watch other people get killed because they only care about themselves and their family. They also are probably happy that it wasn't them who are getting treated how the other people were. Some people stood up for the people who are getting their lives taken away from them and some just watched. Some people tried to help but they failed to help the other people and they also got their lives taken away. I would've tried to help the people I could and try not to get caught and I think it's really sad for the people who were treated like this because they worked so hard for their families and they had to be locked up and see their family members killed and just be alone or with other people like strangers they don't even know. People were happy that the Germans ended war and the people could live a normal life whats left with their family's and they can be happy and won't have to see no more people die.

2 Article Assessment

The problem in the Nike article is that the workers are not getting paid what they need and deserve. Some people can't take care of their families and themselves and its hard for them to live and some people just can't live like this and they just give up. The people that work for the company only get paid a dollar a day. If the people were able to get paid 10 dollars a day they would be better and can treat themselves and maybe even they're families everyday. I think they should get paid what regular workers get paid because they are working as hard as other people are.

People should get the health care they deserve because they can die and get seriously injured without any health care and the people won't do anything for them. Families get split apart when something big happens like that especially when 1,127 people died because of that building. I think people should get the health care they need to be healthy and live because the people who don't give them they will get treated badly to for not treating the injured. Some people were buried under buildings for a while without any one noticing and they just can't hang anymore and they die.

"Al Capone Does My Homework" 2 paragraphs blog

I liked the book because Moose Flanagan lives on Alcatraz island and his dad works at the famous prison there.  But Moose don't like his school and he wants to move back to his home town with his old friends. Moose don't like any of the kids at his new school so he just ignores everyone and tries to be quiet. Then finally one day in the middle of the year Moose meets a new friend from his old school and they are aways messing around in the bathroom and in class. Then he has a conference with his Mom and teachers and saying he was good but then he turned around into falling behind. I finished reading the book and I thought it was the best one of the series of the books.

I think some of the conflicts in this book are man vs self because he has to face being alone with no friends in the school and trying really hard in school to get things done and be a good kid. Also because Moose has to live where he doesn't want to and his mom and dad don't want to move back where they lived before because his dad got a better job. Another conflict in this book is man vs man because when his old friend comes to where he is and they fool around a lot. I think the theme in the "book is don't judge a book by its cover".

"Call Of Duty" article review

In my opinion the article "Call Of Duty"is a really good article because Jose has friend named Zenit are in the military and Zenit is a dog that don't wanna leave his side. I can relate because I have dogs and whenever I come home from school they always are jumping on me. This is a really good story when someone is down and they need someone or something to cheer up they should just read this article and make  connections if they have dogs at home. Man vs self is one of the conflicts in this article because he has to face being leg less and whats left of his legs and he has to trust his dog to sniff the bombs.  A life lesson in this book is if your are different from other people or you don't have things they do just be yourself and think differently.

A summary about the article is this guy named Jose and his dog named Zenit have to sniff out bombs and they are in the military. They are always together on missions and always try to help each other whether they are wounded or tired and one day Jose gets struck by a bomb and suddenly he has no legs and all he is worried about is Zenit and wanting him to be next to him. When Jose is better he will go see Zenit and play with him and Jose is wanting to adopt him for his own so they could always be together.

2 paragraphs

I am reading a book called "Al alone does my shoes" and a little summary about the book is there is this kid named Moose Flanigin and he lives on an island called Alcatraz in California. He doesn't like his school because he don't have friends there and he don't like the teachers. His dad works at the prison and the dad loves the job he's coin and the mom and the dad love the school Moose is going too. Moose really wants to go back to his old school because he misses all his friends and his teachers  and he wants to move back where he came from. One part in the story is the families house gets set on fire and Moose's sister gets blamed for it.

I think the point of view in my book I'm reading is first person and third person because the author made the characters say I when Moose is referring to him. Another reason is because the book I'm reading is always asking questions to each other and having questions always to ask. Now I also think its third person because they also say them witch is referring to other people.  A sentence from the story is "I don't wanna be in this school its lame, the teachers over exaggerate and I just don't wanna be here." Another sentence the book said is " The teachers always are yelling at me for reading a book when we can do whatever thats how stupid this school is."

Character analysis

In my book called " Al Capone Does my shoes" Is this kid named Moose Flannigin and he lives on an Island called Alcatraz in San Fransico, California

Moose Flannigin - He is sometimes is bad but he is a good kid and gets his work done most of the time. He isn't happy where he lives because he don't have that much friends where he is at and he don't talk to people there. He wants to move back to his old school but his dad works at the prison there so he can't because his dad loves his job and his mom and dad love the school that he goes too.

"Treasure of Lemon Brown"

I read the book called "Lemon Brown" and my reaction to the book was really depressing because it relates to homelessness. A lot of people are homeless and they have nothing to eat and they got to ask for money. Its really sad to see people without homes and food because they are people too and they are just one of us. People don't deserve to be like that because its harsh on them and there loved ones and some just keep on happening every day. There are men without homes, women, children and even a whole family that has to be in the street. Homeless people should be treated with respect ad people should always donate to them even if they don't care.
